February 7, 2011 marks a historic day for The Hydrocephalus Foundation of the Philippines. A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed by Dr. Manny Cacdac, Chairman of the Board of HFP and Mr. Jesus Perez Cardenas, President of the Philippine Band of Mercy ( PBM). PBM is the Center of cranio-facial defects of the Philippines. The HFP has been provided a new office/headquarters at the 2nd Floor of the PBM building at 22 East Ave., Q.C. All patients will now be seen in this office. A full-time receptionist/RN and an Executive Asst. are now on board. PBM is just waiting for approval from the Dept. of Health before we can start doing VP shunting procedures in one of their operating rooms. The HFP will also avail of all the resources availbale to PBM patients.
The day started with the blessing of the new office, followed by the signing of the MOA and a light lunch. The affair was attended by the Board of Trustees of the HFP, the Executive Director, Medical Director of PBM, and some members of their Board and employees, some SPSA members and our guest, Cong. Lucy Torres-Gomez and her husband Richard of the 4th District of Leyte and who hosted the SPSA surgical mission recently. Ms. Connie Angeles, of SM Foundation and the host of Kapwa Ko Mahal Ko also graced the occasion.
The HFP deeply appreciates PBM's keen interest in working with us to care for the poor
children with cranial and facial abnormalities. We hope and we pray that this association will have a fruitful and successful outcome.
